Maybe the name of MyLibrary should change

Maybe the name of MyLibrary should change.

The name “MyLibrary” was coined in 1998 by Keith Morgan while he, Doris Sigl, and I were working at the NCSU Libraries. It was a take-off of MyNetscape, MyDeja News, etc. It worked, and at the time described pretty well the functionality of the system.

A few months ago, when I submitted the code to CPAN there was a tiny bit of concern regarding the name. “MyLibrary is too generic. The word ‘library’ is ambiguous.” That person was correct. Searches in Google for MyLibrary return many things that are MyLibrary-esque, but blog searches for MyLibrary return programming code. Moreover, many librarians associate MyLibrary with the turn-key application of version 2.x when though the system is now more like a toolbox.

On the other hand, MyLibrary carries a lot of weight. It has a bit of name recognition.

What to do?
